Challenge #17: Acetate or Transparencies

Happy Monday and welcome to October!  Cannot believe October is already starting.  Charissa here with a new challenge for you!  I want to challenge you to use acetate or transparencies on a layout, card, or other project.  So many times we get these adorable transparencies in collection kits and find them a challenge to use, so hopefully we can give you some ideas to put them to use.  But it doesn’t end with those patterned transparencies; there are many other transparent products out there.  I have used the plastic acetate backing that comes with cling and clear stamps before on a project!  The possibilities are endless, so try out those clear products and see what you can come up with!

A scrappy hero of mine, Shimelle, did a tutorial video showing how you could use a transparency to make a double sided page.  I loved the idea and was so inspired!! I used a patterned transparency from Fancy Pants to create this double sided page with photos of my little princesses.  I just made sure that all elements on the pages had a copy on the other side so you can't see anything sticking behind.

To back the number 3, I used one of the acetate sheets that came with a background cling stamp.  I stitched it on and then adhered some patterned paper behind it.

I love how Charity attached her 3M transparency (yes, the type you can get at the office supply store) with black brads that match her enamel accents in black and how she put rub-ons actually on the transparency.  Genius!

Amber

Amber used the packaging from a round punch to make this adorable snowman shaker card!  What a great way to use up material that would normally just be tossed/recycled - make a snow globe of sorts.  Super cute!!

Erica made this absolutely darling luminary with a Halloween theme.  How adorable are those ghosts and the kitty in the pumpkin? And the acetate works perfectly to let you see the background inside.  This would be stunning with a tea light in it(electric of course!).

Kristy used this stunning SU window sheet (a printed acetate) to create this gorgeous card.  The window sheet has the tree printed on it (many transparencies at office supply stores can be run through printers to add an image) and allows the stripe to show through.

Judy made this gorgeous and peaceful layout using a printed transparency as part of her layering.  It shows how a transparency can be used in place of patterned paper in many cases to add depth and interest to your project!

Hope we have inspired you to try out those clear transparencies and other acetate items.  I can't wait to see what you make this week!!  Our random winner will be getting this set of goodies from Studio Calico.

Challenge #16: Baby

Good morning!! It's Heather here with a challenge finally! Since most of my time is spent with my 7 month old, our challenge this week is Baby! Maybe it's your kids, your pets, your garden. Whatever you consider your baby, we want to see those projects! It can be a LO, a card, altered art, etc. The Paper Girls have some pretty cute babies, if I do say so myself!

Here is my LO. I used Authentique's monthly sketch.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my daughter from her 1st Fourth of July!

Charity

I love all the circles and the colors are perfect for that adorable photo!

Charissa

I love all the layers here and those little cameras are just too cute!

Kristina

I love the bright colors for her 2 little cuties and the brackets around the title add a nice touch!

Erica

I love how she used the journaling card to mark 2 months and the use of washi is great!

Sheryl

Sheryl used a Julie Bonner sketch for her cutie pie. I love the mix of patterns on this!

Amber

Amber scrapped her sweet baby's birth announcement using those classic boy colors.

I can't wait to see all the baby projects this week!!

Challenge #15: Go BIG

Hello! Erica here with the next challenge. Let me just start out by saying that I really enjoyed looking at all of the different pages everyone made with our Get Messy Challenge. Some of you got really into it! That was a really fun Challenge!

Now let me introduce you to our next Challenge: Go Big.. Use a photo on your layout that is a 5 x 7 or bigger. This is a great opportunity to really get up close with one of your favorite photos. There are some really cool interpretations from the Paper Girls and I hope they stimulate your imagination.

Here is what I came up with:

I went for an 8 x10 of my youngest when he was just a tiny little guy.

Charity made a card out of an 8 x 10 print that she had. Great idea!

I love that Amber made the large print the focal point of her page but also added smaller pictures underneath.

Judy used one of those many classic  5 x 7 school pictures that we all have and featured it in this fun school themed page.

Kristina came up with two different takes on the challenge. This one she actually printed a 12 x 12 picture to use as her background. Great idea!!
On this second page the strip of three pictures are a collage print. So much fun!

Kyla took this opportunity to scrap an 8 x 10 of a lovely view from a vacation. Stunning!

Sheryl scrapped a 5 x7 picture of her daughter - with the picture a little larger it is emphasized just that much more.

I love this close up on Charissa's cutie pie. Up close and intimate!

I hope this give you plenty to go on so if you don't have any large prints laying around pick one out and print it! I can't wait to see everyone's creations for this round!

If you want to join in and submit an entry to our challenge use our linky tool down below to link up your photo! The deadline for this Challenge is Saturday, September 15th. Please let us know in the comments if  you have any questions or problems.

Challenge #14: Get Messy!!!

WOW!! You ladies totally blew us away with a record-breaking 63 entries on Challenge #13!
We loved looking at all your birthday creations.

Amber's here with Challenge #14 and I hope you're just as inspired by this challenge!

I am challenging you to "Get Messy!"
Pull out your paints, sprays, inks, watercolors, even chalks - something other than your standard little ink pad, that is unless of course you can get messy using that too!
Have fun. Be artistic. But make sure you get messy!

Here is what I created:
Amber
On my card I spritzed part of the background and then stamped the flowers using acrylic paints instead of ink.

On my layout I used homemade sprays (acrylic paint and water) on my background and then applied clear glitter glue over it
.

And the rest of the Design Team:

Charity
Charity used Tattered Angels mists on her paper, doilies, and on the flowers as well to create this stunning layout.

Charissa
Charissa used distress inks to create the ombre effect of the
triangles and also on the color magic paper (the chevrons). I'm told she was red for days. Now that's dedication to the craft!

Erica
Erica used a combination of sprays, masks, and paint to create the beautiful chevrons on her layout and card. Aren't they both breathtaking?!

Kristy
Kristy used Distress Stain and spritzes to get this wonderful look on her sweet layout. I just love the splattered background she created.

Kyla
Kyla used inks and water splatters on her little rainbow mini tag book. I love those rich colors she was able to achieve on these!

If you want to join in and submit an entry to our challenge use our linky tool down below to link up your photo! The deadline for this Challenge is Saturday, September 1st. Please let us know in the commetns if  you have any questions or problems.

Challenge #12: Mesh

Charity Becker here with Challenge #12. The midwest is enduring quite the heat wave and to celebrate I've cooked up a doozy of a challenge. The next two weeks are going to be ALL about mesh. Originally I had the sort of orange or red mesh bags in mind that oranges, onions, or other produce comes in. But when I proposed my challenge to the Paper Girl's they showed up with colors I had never seen before.

To start of this batch of inspiration is a card I created using Graphic 45.
I slipped the mesh behind my letters to help my sentiment stand out.
~ So Glad, You're Back ~

Next up we have a layout from Erica,
she used just a smidge of mesh as an accent on her tree.
~ Rest Up...Refresh ~

This delightful card is from Kyla,
She robbed the First Aid kit and misted her mesh to compliment her card.
~ wishing you a Speedy Recovery ~

Not happy with just one project I (Charity)
went all gung-ho and added wide bands of mesh to my back ground for this layout.
~ drift wood ~

This seriously adorable card is from Amber.
She used her mesh as a misting mask.
~ Happy Birthday ~

Kristy snagged one mesh bag from her children's sand toys
and another from a Costco watermelon to create this cheery layout.
~ Perfect Ending ~

Judy bought a cantaloupe for the sole purpose
of getting a neutral toned mesh for her card.
~ Imagine Dream Fly ~

I'm sure after seeing this array of creativity your brain is HUMMING with ideas on how YOU can use mesh. Go ahead, show us up!!! We'll be thrilled to applaud your success. Then be sure to link up so I can send one of you this prize:

And if you already have one of these, stop by my blog. I'm choosing a blog follower for a great package of goodies you won't want to miss out on!!!

Challenge #11: Rub On

Welcome back to The Paper Girls Challenge.  Kristy here, with your 11th Challenge!  Last time I challenged you to use stamps on your creation.  This time, it is rub-on's.  If you are like me, you probably have a drawer full of rub-ons sitting there staring back at you, waiting to be used.  I know I have a bunch.  I'll see them in the store, and think how cute, but I rarely pull them out to use them.  This is why I wanted to push myself and The Paper Girls to use those pesky little things...
I love that everyone used rub-ons in all different ways - even rubbing directly onto pictures.  I also love the mix of scrapbook pages and cards.  Remember, you don't just have to do scrapbook pages to enter our challenges!!!
Check out what everyone did!
