Challenge #159- Inspiration Photo

Hi, Karrie here, and thanks for joining us PaperGirls today!  I took a pic of the big beautiful peonies in the front of my house that bloom for a short time every year, and chipped it. So this challenge I'm asking you to please use it, and the colours as inspiration for a new project! So looking forward to your gorgeous creations to match!

We are very lucky to have a guest designer, NanaConnie, who created this beautiful card based on our colour challenge. Isn't this lovely!? Please give NanaConnie a warm welcome by visiting her blog, "Grammy's Attic".
Hi. I'm NanaConnie and I've been crafting in one form or another for my entire life. I love paper crafts and card making has become my favorite pass time over the last 10 years or so. I have served on several DTs since 2011 when I first started blogging and I love the fabulously crafty people I've met in my journey through blogland. I'm honored to be a Guest Designer for the Paper Girls. My blog is "Grammy's Attic" and that's where you can find me posting something nearly every day.
I dearly love the color combo for this challenge and was inspired by the lovely flowers.  The image is one from Conie Fong and I colored it using ProMarkers. The image is fussy cut, then mounted with dimensional tape onto a black, die cut (Spellbinders) oval. The bow I made with a left over scrap of pink lace."

Thank you so much for joining us, NanaConnie!

Unfortunately we are involved in a major overhaul at home and my scrap space is unavailable so I wasn't able to create something, but the other PaperGirls have stepped up (did I mention what a great team we have?!) and made some gorgeous projects as follows:

Challenge #158 - Summer Sweet Treats

Hello! Heather here for this week's challenge: Summer Sweet Treats. While I know that some parts of the continent are already going back to school, in the Pacific Northwest, we still have about two more weeks of summer! Share with us anything sweet or treat-like: candies, ice cream, snacks, pictures of adorable kiddos with frosting on their faces, whatever you think is sweet!

For this challenge, I've been saving this super adorable stamp set from Avery Elle. I watercolored each of the images with bright colors, and paired each of the images with some fun things from my stash.

I love using things from my stash, and adding stamped and colored images along with those is an easy way to create fun and easy cards.
The last touches I added were clear gems, Spectrum Noir sparkle paint on the ice cream, and some glossy accents on the popsicle.

I documented our visit to our neighborhood ice cream truck; this old paper line from My Minds Eye couldn't be a better fit for the event!

And now...congratulations to the winner of Challenge #157:

Challenge #157 - Paint It!

Hello everyone! It's Erica hosting the challenge this week. I decided it was time to break out the paints and inks this week. I can't help it, I like to get a little messy now and again so this challenge is Paint it! I like to paint with many different mediums so go ahead and use whatever you have: watercolors, ink, acrylic just at that painted vibe.

Now, we would like to introduce you to Billie Anderson. She is our fabulous guest designer this week!

My name is Billie and I have been a crafter all my life. My husband is very supportive of my craft and childhood sweetheart. We have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We live out in the country in SW Washington state. We have two 4 legged small rescue kids.

With the theme being “Paint it” I knew what I wanted to create. I used a digi I won a few month back from Beccy’s place. I stamped the dinosaur image and colored him with Copics. I then fussy cut him out.  I laid the image on the a piece of water color paper and sketched out a scene. Using my Mission gold water colors I painted the scene. I thought the scene needed a volcano so I added one and used stickles for the  glow. I used black colored pencils to add depth around the rocks, then added foam dots behind the dinosaur to add him to the card along with the sentiment.

Thank you so much, Billie!

Now, here is more inspiration from our design team:

Erica
I splatted my background paper with alcohol inks and stamped the whale and water colored it with ink.

Michele
I stamped the hexagon images an then painted them with watercolors.

Kristy
I used watercolors to create the background for this butterfly to land on.

I painted the background with watercolour.

Challenge #156 - Transparencies

Hi Scrappy Friends.  Cathryn here to share a new challenge with you.
Transparencies!!!!
A few years ago I saw a layout made by Missy Whidden where she sprayed mist on a transparency and then cut it into little squares. I love that layout and have always wanted to try something like that myself.

First,
let me welcome our guest designer
Linda McEnergy

We are delighted to have Linda designing with us again, here is her beautiful project:

And here is a little about her:

Hello! I am Linda Mc Energy. I am 46 years old, married to my soulmate, with 3 grown, married children.  I’ve always loved crafting of all kinds, but started carding in 2009, because finding ‘just the right card’ for loved ones was really important to me, and I wasn’t happy with what I found on the shelves.  I am currently on 4 Design Teams and spend a LOT of my time crafting!  I love to add a personalized touch to my cards, so I enjoy knowing as much as I can about the recipient.

If you’d like to pop in for a visit, you can find me here: https://lindamscreations.blogspot.com

So here are a few pictures of the transparency that I used alcohol ink on.  I then cut it into strips and used my sewing machine to stitch it to my background paper.

I really love how it turned out!

And this is my final layout

Here is more from our Design Team....

Brittany
I used a transparency to create a shaker card.

Michele
I used square transparencies on white paper for my background.

Heather
I used a metallic, striped transparency paper to show off the rose gold glitter paste behind.

And now...congratulations to the winner of Challenge #155:
#1 Chris

Thank you SO much, Linda, for being our guest designer. Now, here is more beautiful projects from our design team:
For my project, I used the button as an accent on my twine.

I used these older packages of MME buttons whole and some vintage ones also
to document the perfect comfy cosy spot my kitty curled up to have her nap ALL OVER MY CLOTHES!! when I was changing over from winter to summer wardrobe.
Some mini clothes pins also support the clothing theme.

I used the adorable Baby Button Bits stamp from Papertrey Ink Stamps to create these adorable baby cards for my cousins.

Challenge #154 - Bicycles

Summertime is in full swing and one thing we do around here is get out our bikes!  That's my challenge for you this time!

Challenge #154 - BICYCLES

I've meant to scrap this picture for years. This is my daughter trying out her very first bicycle:

And now some inspiration from our Paper Girls:

Karrie
I've had this "Bicycle for 2" transparency for a long time and never used the Eiffel tower stencil.
Perfect time to make some home décor!

I used an older stamp and some of my favorite retired papers to create a pair of tags great for any upcoming occasion.

Using the Story Teller collection by Crate Paper to document a bike ride my daughter and I took.

Challenge #153 - Woodland Creatures

Hello crafters...and hello June!
This is Brittany and I'm so excited to host our Paper Girls challenge these next couple weeks:
Woodland Creatures.

We spend a lot of time in the summer playing out in the woods where I live and we see a lot of beautiful wildlife, which inspired this challenge. I'd like to see a project where a creature from the outdoors, most particularly a woodland creature, has inspired your work. I can't wait to see your projects! You have until Saturday, June 16th (11:55pm MST) to link your project to this post (below).

Here are two cards I created that were inspired by the critters I've seen in the woods.
This first card has more of an Autumn feel, but I absolutely love this little deer image from Greeting Farm stamps (Forest Friends - now retired).

And with the arrival of a new baby for one of my dear friends, I couldn't resist creating this sweet little scene with my Fawn Lawn stamps (Mom + Me).

Here are the beautiful creations from our amazing design team:

Michele
I found some woodland creatures in my stash from October Afternoon.

Simple cards with these adorable felt creatures I found.

This is my sweet granddaughter Taylor with her special Woodland Creature from preschool. It was her turn to look after him over the weekend.

I started by using my Distress Inks and a pair of Neat and Tangled stencils. I then added a cute set of woodland creatures from the Into the Woods Lawn Fawn stamps, colored with Dual Brush Pens by Tombow. The sentiments were from the set, and were perfect for a hello card.
