Challenge #172- Under the Sea

Hey there everyone! It's Erica here with the newest challenge on PGCB. Here in North America there has been crazy weather and I thought it would be fun to have a sea themed challenge. So the challenge is Under the Sea. This is a great time to use those beach pictures that you haven't scrapbooked or some of the fun stamps you've been itching to use.

Challenge 171 - Pinspired Challenge

Hello, Heather here! I love Pinspired challenges. I pinned this image quite awhile ago. I just loved the geometric patterns, the color, and the makeup. I knew that once I figured out this challenge, that I would create something like the project I have for you below.
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/78039006029614431/feedback/?invite_code=8b352721f0c346a7982f774bd357ffe7&sender_id=78039143451459702

First however, we are very lucky to have Lagene Sands guest designing with us for this challenge. Be sure to stop by her blog and share some love!
"Hello I'm Lagene from southern Oregon, I am totally excited to be a Guest Designer for The Paper Girls Challenge Blog!  I dipped my toes into crafting in 2000 when my first grandchild was born. I started scrapbooking at that point. In 2006 I stumbled across Stamp TV with Gina K Designs and was HOOKED on card making from that day till now! I have discovered so many Stamp & Die companies and a wonderful world of Crafting Bloggers with great Inspiration and Challenges that get my creative juices flowing.

I spent a couple of years on the Tutorial Time Design Team on Marks Finest Papers Blog. This company has since gone out of business, but you can see my projects on my old blog : INKYMEMA

I love trying new techniques and  especially love shaker cards.  My current blog is INKYLAGENEY
The inspiration photo totally reminds me of a "Tent Dress" I had in high school around 1969.  Here is a card I made mimicking the triangles and bright colors."

I knew how I would create a card that was similar to the Pinspired image above. I've had this die for quite awhile. For this card, I ended up using the die a total of six times, one for each color. I glued the cover onto paper, then, I placed in each piece in a random order.
The sentiment used black paper and white embossing to mimic the eye makeup on the image.

Michele
I had some Basic Grey patterned paper in my stash that matched the inspiration photo perfectly.

Karrie Cool pic! It inspired me to make a triangle collage with most of the colours.

My kiddos were in a picture last year by a wall that matched the colors and triangles in this image perfectly, so I knew I needed to use it. The colors resonated with me the most, so my layout contains matching bright colors too.

And now...congratulations to the winner of Challenge #168:

Challenge #170 Now and Then

Hi and welcome to a new challenge!  It is Now and Then!
Something along the lines of  comparing something before and after, old pic/info and new,
recreating a favourite family photo, celebrating a milestone.
Karrie
I've compared these 2 shots of me with our granddaughter, taken 8 summers apart.

The other PaperGirls have these fabulous inspiration projects for you...

 Heather
I found two pictures of us in the snow (rare in the Northwest) five years and two dates separating the two.

Erica
I've compared two winter pictures of building snowmen. It's a rare occurrence!

Kristy
This is a picture of my husband and I on our wedding day and our 6-year anniversary (which was 10/10/10).  We aged pretty well those first 6 years!

Brittany
I created this page for our 13th anniversary of dating using our first picture together as a couple and a picture of us out on the town 13 years later.

Enter yours in the linky below!

Challenge #169 - Red, Pink and White

Ah, February... Love is in the air, don't you think? This is Michele with your next Paper Girls Challenge. I'm inspired by Valentine's Day, but keeping this a simple color challenge.

Challenge #169 - Red, Pink and White

Please use all three of these colors on your project. It's fine to add a bit of some other colors, but red, pink and white should definitely be prominent. Also, any project theme is fine. Valentines and Love are great, but aren't required!

For my project I pulled out my scrap bin and cut out some hearts with my Cricut to create this card.  I think I'll give it to my husband on Feb 14th, it's our 15th wedding anniversary!

Please welcome our guest designer for this challenge

I am a personal trainer and run coach with a nasty crafting habit on my "rest days". I love to scrapbook my races and my little puppy Maddie. I also enjoy card making and coloring, bringing a smile to friends and family with a special handmade card these days when everything is online makes me happy.

Be sure to visit Meghan on any of these site and say hello:
Isn't Meghan's Cupid adorable? Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous card with us!!

Let's see some more inspiration for Red, Pink and White from the Paper Girls:

found this pic of my hubby and  his grandbaby, perfect for the challenge.
Also used up some old stash.

Challenge #168: Sparkle and Shine!

Hi!  Welcome to the newest Paper Girls Challenge: Sparkle and Shine!

Kristy here, and I love the pop of sparkle and shine on projects.  I often reach for gold splatters to add a pop to a project.  Gold or silver threads help ground popped up elements. Glittered card bases are a quick way to add some sparkle to a card.  The choices are endless.

We're are lucky to be collaborating again with Double Trouble Paper Crafting Challenge Blog. Combine your Sparkle and Shine project with their challenge "Love is in the Air" for entries on both sites.  Think balloons, butterflies, clouds and more!  Be sure to check out Double Trouble for even more ideas - and link up your project!  So, be sure to visit their fantastic challenge blog and let them know we sent you!

For my project, I combined a lot of different sparkly and shiny elements: Stickles, Wink of Stella, and a glittered card base.

Here are projects from our other wonderful Paper Girls:

I made this "YOU Sparkle" gift box reusing a Ferrero Rocher chocolate container
and BoBunny items.

Michele
I made this hanging photo collage with lots of sparkly gold and silver elements like glitter and metallic papers.
I made two cards for this challenge because I love glitter! On the birthday card I added extra fine glitter details to this sweet card on the cake and faux stitching, and of course glitter gems. On the smile card I used glitter paper, glitter washi tape, and heart shaped glitter gems.

And now...congratulations to the winner of Challenge #167:

Challenge #167 Black and White

Happy New Year, everyone! We hope that your first week in 2019 has been fantastic so far!
We are kicking off our first challenge of the year with a Black and White challenge. This can be anything from black and white papers or photos...however the theme resonates with you, we can't wait to see what you create!

Please welcome our guest designer for this challenge, Kathy Kirby.  You can find Kathy at her blog, Purple Princess Diaries.

I’ve been crafting in one shape or form since I was little as my mum was very creative. Mostly I make cards and ATC's, and am currently loving the Artist Trading COIN trend …. though I've been getting more and more in to mixed media, art journalling and scrap booking! I'll have a go at most crafts . . . some even more than once!!!

Kathy created this lovely Christmas card for our challenge:

Materials used:
  • White, C6/A2, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of card (one black and one white) cut to 14cm x 9.5cm
  • I used an anti static bag on my card before I started, as I didn't want any stray "bits" of embossing powder
  • I stamped my bear image (MFT BB-49 "Bitty Bears") using Versamark ink and Heat It Up clear embossing powder which I heat set
  • I then stamped my Hero Arts sentiment using Versamark ink and funstamps white embossing powder which I heat set
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour my bear and stardust stickles to add twinkle!
  • I used double sided narrow tape to adhere my black and white striped satin ribbon, after threading a 25mm bell on to my ribbon
  • I used three strips of 25mm wide dimensional foam tape to adhere my image panel to my card blank
  • I then stamped the reverse of my card, my insert and the front and back of my envelope to match, using Memento tuxedo black ink for the bear and Versafine onyx black ink for the sentiment
Thanks for sharing your beautiful project with us, Kathy!

And now let's see what the Paper Girls have created for this first challenge of the new year:

Brittany
I chose a couple black and white patterned papers for my card and added just a tiny pastel pop of color.

I chose a b&w photo

I chose to use black and white papers, with some simple stamping in both black and colored ink.

I also chose a black & white photo
and tried to stick with shades of black & white product
with a hint of blue.

And now...congratulations to the winner of Challenge #166:

Challenge #166 - Santa and his elves

Hello everyone! Heather here, and I couldn't resist creating something super fun for a Christmas Challenge. Today's challenge is to incorporate Santa and his elves into your projects! Whether you choose one or more characters is up to you. Funny, cute, traditional or modern, elves with or without Santa, it's all up to you!

For today's challenge, I used a set of print and cut "stamps" from the Silhouette Online Store (#111379, #111949, #111952). I just wanted to color these with colored pencils, using the characters from the movie "Elf" as my inspiration. The paper is the Jingle Collection from Authentique Paper, and the stamp is from this year's Holly Collection by Felicity Jane.

I just happened to have the perfect pic for this!

Brittany
This challenge was a perfect opportunity to document our trip to see Santa this year.

Merry Christmas everyone!
