PGCB #97 - Valentine/Love

Hello, Brittany here to kick of our first challenge for February with the Paper Girls! Since February is the month of love - we challenge you to create something for your Valentine or about love.

Challenge #97 - Valentine/Love

We have exciting news - this challenge is sponsored by Alisha from Scrap N' Dipity! Here is a bit more about this fabulous artist:

"Hi! My name is Alisha, I'm 31 years old and live in Ontario Canada. I've been creating graphics since I was 13 years old, which was a long time ago now! I like to create anything cute and kawaii style. I'm a huge crafter, I love to create all kinds of things! If it's a DIY project I will definitely try it. I started creating pixel graphics and have recently decided to jump into Scrapbooking products with my site Scrap N' Dipity. When I'm not creating I like to spend my time with my husband and our furbabies."

Alisha will be giving away two (2) $10 gift certificates to shop from her amazing digital shop - we'll randomly select one winner from participants from the Valentine challenge and Alisha will select one winner of her choice! We'll post the winners with our next challenge on Monday, 2/15/16.

Lucky us, we got to play with one of her darling digital images for this challenge - Scribble Sally - Be My Valentine.

Please welcome our Guest Designer for the month of February:
Tara Sell

Hi, I'm Tara and I have always enjoyed creating crafty projects and within the last couple of years have decided to seriously pursue my love of all things paper, stamps, home decor, glitter, and more! I started up my blog a little over a year ago and have been slowly learning more skills and adding to my collection of crafty tools, tricks, and must-haves!  The blog is a place for me to share what I've learned and hopefully inspire others to pursue their passion, whatever that may be. Six months ago I decided to try my hand at creating crafty videos and started a YouTube channel to share my projects.  The crafting community is full of wonderful minds, open hearts, and amazing talent - I'm so excited to be a part of it!

Join me:

For this project I printed the adorable image on kraft cardstock and colored her in with my Prismacolors.  This is one of my favorite coloring techniques and it really allows the image to be the star of the show!  For some added whimsy I outlined her with a white gel pen and used some cute puffy stickers and patterned papers to create a lovey dovey Valentine's theme.

Beautiful card, Tara!  Here is how the rest of the design team used this sweet image:

I wanted to use Scribble Sally to make Valentines for my girls - she was PERFECT!

My daughter has already declared this cute little girl and card as hers!  Scribble Sally is just the cutest little girl and perfect for Valentine's Day.

Challenge #83 - Babies!

Hello!  Brittany here, with The Paper Girl's 83rd Challenge: Babies!!!  I don't know about you, but babies just make me giddy...human babies, animal babies...any baby! And crafting for babies just makes me even more happy.  Before we hop into the amazing design team inspiration for this challenge, I would like to introduce to you our guest designer for the month of July, Karen McAlpine!

Hi, Karen McAlpine here, to tell you a little bit about myself.  I have a long crafty history and have been crafting since the age of four.  Over the years, I have enjoyed many crafts including: decoupage, embroidery, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening.   I love my herb and flower garden.   Currently, card making and paper crafts are my favorites.  I have been making cards for about 15 years. I started out making cards on the computer with a greeting cards software package.  About 9 years ago, I moved on to hand made cards.  I really love the creative scope that comes from stamping.  I feel that each stamp is a little work of art in its own right.  Of course I like to put my own signature style on my projects.  My projects will almost always include lots of layers, a mix of pattern and texture, and fibers of some kind.  Creating my own backgrounds with paint, ink, a Gelli Plate, or stencils has become one of my favorite techniques.

I wanted a cute baby card and remembered this fun bird stamp set.  Then I thought it would be nice if the nest had a tree background of some kind.  I pulled out this embossing folder and tried that.  I liked the combo of the image with the embossed tree trunk, and then picked some pretty pastel CS colors.   I decided to watercolor the image for a soft look.

Karen's card is SUPER cute...please be sure to visit her blog for more details and see her other lovely creations!!!!!

Now, on to the Paper Girls design team interpretations this theme:

And now the winner of Challenge #82 (Happy Birthday) is 37. Avril Watson!

Challenge #78 - April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hello everyone! It's Brittany with my very first challenge for the Paper Girls Challenge Blog!

Every time I think about Spring, I can't help but think of rain...I am from the Northwest, anyway.  I love the smell after a fresh rain, and even more the sights and smells of all the new blooming flowers that rain helps bring. So I want to see what inspires you when you think about rain...and even better, the quote "April Showers Bring May Flowers". Here is the little card I put together thinking of all the rain, AND sunshine, mixed with all the new blooms in my yard right now.

And now, here is what our fabulous design team came up with! I can't wait to see what your interpretation of this challenge will be!

And now...the winner of Challenge #77 - Pastel Eggstravaganza:

Challenge #47 - Wishful Thinking a start for 2014

Challenge #47 - Wishful Thinking (a start for 2014)

Happy New Year!!!
Hi Everyone - Deborah here for PGCB in our first challenge of 2014.  I gotta tell you that the Paper Girls are back at it!  They are busy creating amazing artwork while working on a theme.  This challenge is asking you to think about "Wishful Thinking".  That's it!  Your challenge is to interpret our theme of "Wishful Thinking".  Is it a resolution?  Is it a goal you have for the next month or so?  Is it just a bit of daydreaming for you?  Check out what our designers have been wishfully thinking about as we start this new year:

Deborah is wishfully thinking of her family.  Looks like her kids are wishing on the first evening star!

Charity combined a note from her son with photos to illustrate her goal of remembering to celebrate the ways her children are "growing up."

Michele found a sentiment in her stamp stash that expresses some wishful thinking.

Jessica was inspired by her wish to use up some of her scraps and made this card with a wistful sentiment.

Becci created this piece of home decor using her word(s) for the year.

Kristy sends New Year's wishes to you and your family, sharing her New Year's Day traditions on this layout.  She also wishes her mom could be with her family next year, instead of on Skype.

This challenge's winner will receive:

Challenge #46 - Using Holiday Products on Non-Holiday Projects

Hey everyone!  Charissa here with what is the final challenge for 2013!  Can you believe the year is already almost over?!?  Right now, a lot of us are working on Christmas or other holiday projects, so it is a great time to challenge ourselves to use our Christmas/Holiday theme products on a project that has absolutely nothing to do with the holidays!  We have LOTS of great examples from the DT for you to get some inspiration from!

I (Charissa) created a layout using Elle's Studio's Noel for do this layout of my nephew.  I stayed away from the winter and Christmas themed items and the red and it turned into a great boy-ish color scheme.

Becci created this darling card using an Echo Park Season's Greetings kit.  I works great for this encouraging card.

Deborah really brought out the traditional reds and greens for her project, and they look great with the bright red her kids are wearing in the photo!

Jessica used Fancy Pants Merry Little Christmas for her layout about family game time.  Though, they are playing a console, the numbered Christmas paper definitely harkens to a game board!

Kristy used Lily Bee's Christmas Cheer line to create this fun card!  The pops of blue that are so prevalent in Christmas collections currently make them perfect to use for non-Christmas projects!

Charity used Carta Bella's So This Is Christmas line to create this page about one adorable pup.  Again the fabulous blues of the collection mean the layout doesn't look holiday at all.

Michele used My Mind's Eye Winter Wonderland to create this project about her little dancer.  The colors work perfectly with the bright red (and polka dots!) of the dress.

Because of the holidays, you get an extra week to complete your non-holiday projects with holiday products!  To enter, please link up your project by 11:59pm on January 4th!  The winner will be announced with the next challenge on January 6th!

The winner for Challenge #45 - Confetti Shakers is:  Saskia.  Congrats, Saskia!
Please e-mail us at papergirlschallengeblog@gmail.comwith your info and we will get your prize sent out.
