Challenge #32 - Color Palette Challenge

A very happy Monday everyone!  Charissa here today with our 32nd challenge.  This week I am challenging you to use a color palette inspired by this paper from Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm.

The paper includes navy, coral, and cream with touches of yellow, pink, and green.  So rifle through your stash and see what papers, mists, inks, and embellishments you can find in this color scheme and join us in this challenge.  Our fantastic DT members have created some stunning projects to get your creative juices flowing.

I love the navy ink splatter on Amber's card and how she combined the subtlety of the cream heart with the pop of the coral hello and flower!

Heather's card is so pretty!  The coral flowers really stand out against the navy team up and the embossed cream cardstock brings subtle elegance to the card.

Using the navy as the base for this card really makes is pop and makes the softer colors of the banner strips really shine.  I also adore the addition of the sequins in the supporting colors of the color palette!

With its deep navy background, Charity's laying is simply stunning!  The coral and cream really make a statement against the darker background paper and the little pops of yellow give just enough extra detail and interest!

Sheryl's layout is so pretty and the photos work perfectly with the color scheme with their own coral, navy, and yellow tones in the sunset.  Again, the deep navy background really allows the lighter colors (and the photos!) to really pop off the page!

Erica created an awesome trio of cards using the navy as a pop color and map prints in the coral and grey!  I love how bold the cards are!

This week I made my Project Life spread using the inspiration as my title card and building from there with the color scheme.  I actually pulled many of these papers from Lucky Charm, along with embellishments.  The colors really made the spread cohesive, colorful, and happy!

Lots of amazing projects this week!  I hope that you will be inspired by our inspiration patterned paper and will join us in this week's challenge!  Just a reminder that you will have until 11:59 MDT on June 1st to link up your project to us to be entered in this drawing.

Now for the winner of our Doodling Challenge - Challenge #31!

Challenge #31 - Doodle Time!

Hello All!

Kristy here! I hope you had a great {Inter}National Scrapbooking Day.  I hope seeing all the different challenges and blog hops many of the companies were hosting over the weekend got your creative juices going - just in time for our new challenge!

Time to break out your pens, pencils, even the straw end from your mister, to doodle on your page.  I know it may be intimidating, but hopefully seeing all the different ways The Paper Girls doodled on their projects will inspire you to put pen to paper for more than just journaling. We have quite a few fun things to share with you today, so let's get started!

Judy created this fun patriotic tag with fun doodling around the edge, coloring in some of the stars and highlighting the USA.

I simply L-O-V-E the card Erica created. Give this girl a white pen and some blank paper and look what she does!

Charity added some fun hearts and flourishes around her circles to highlight those little monkeys just hanging out!

Sheryl's flourishes remind me of the steam from a cup of tea, and I just wish I could enjoy a cup with her!

Isn't Heather's little girl just the cutest thing?!?  I love that finishing touch from the doodling around the edge of the purple paper.

Kyla's continues to take us on her journey to Las Vegas with the doodling in her Smash book.

Amber's card is full of doodles and beautiful watercoloring.  I know I would be happy to receive this in the mail!

Charissa's sense of whimsy in her layouts is so fun!  I love the extra touch the doodles add to this page.

I have a couple projects for you too.  The first is just a simple doodle on the edge of my photo mat.  I feel like it grounds the picture.

The second project has a little more pen to paper - some simple white lines around the title to draw attention to it, as well as tracing over the pattern on the Amy Tangerine paper (kraft).  It just wasn't "bold" enough for me, and I wanted to make sure it was seen.  ;-)

It amazes me how just taking a couple minutes to doodle on a project, really adds some pop!  This is a perfect example...  Charissa and I both used the same journaling cards on our 2013 Project Lifetitle page.  She took the time to add her own personal touch to the cards and it is stunning what a difference it makes!  (So stunning that Amy Tan of Amy Tangerine fame pinned her picture!)

See if you agree:

Everyone created some wonderful projects!  I hope you find a bit of inspiration and join us for our challenge!

Challenge #30 - Travel

Hello, Judy here with Challenge #30.  The challenge this week is travel.  Do you have some vacation pictures that need to scrapped?  A travel stamp or paper collection that you want to use?

One reason I did this challenge is I have vacation photos from 2010 that still need to scrapped.  I am 5 layouts away from finishing our South Dakota album and am happy to have one more done.  Here is the layout I created:

Here are the fabulous projects created by my fellow Paper Girls.  We have layouts, cards and a smash book creations to share.

Erica created a fun layout about her daughter fitting into a suitcase.  What a cute stowaway.

Charity scrapped these amazing photos of Pisa.  Look at the cute travel washi she used!

Sheryl's layout documents one of the many adventures her jet setting children have taken:

Heather created a layout for her honeymoon album.  The bright colors just pop off the page.

Kyla's project is a two page spread in her Smash book.  The bits and pieces in the two pages are endless.

Kristy created this lovely card, I love the nautical feel it has.

Amber created a fun card using some lots of techniques!  I see stamping, ink spots and coloring.

Our fabulous guest designers designed:

Deborah scrapped photos from a family vacation.  Look at what she used as one of the papers, a map with the location!

Jessica created an adorable layout of her little guy off to Grandma's house.

I hope you find a bit of inspiration and join us for our challenge!

Now the winner for Challenge #29 is:

Challenge #29 - April Showers bring May Flowers

Amber here today with our first challenge of April. It's finally Spring here in North America and we couldn't be more excited! So I've chosen "April Showers bring May Flowers" for our challenge theme. This means you can use raindrops, umbrellas, or flowers on your projects.

Here's what I came up with:
On this first one I used an umbrella and rain with one of my favorite stamps. I wanted the couple to be black and white with the umbrella just popping with color.

And then I had to make a simple flower card too!

Let's check out what the rest of the design team came up with:

Charity made a great photo frame with rainboots and a matching 3-d umbrella.

Erica used the rock and roll technique to get this beautiful ombre look on her flowers.

Judy watercolored her stamp image for this gorgeous card. Did you notice we used the same stamp? Love it!

Kristy made this colorful card using flowers, raindrops AND umbrellas. I love her gem raindrops.

Kyla has this super cute paper-pieced umbrella and fun glittery rain.

Sheryl  has a fun rainboot card to share with us with more glittery rain. This makes me wish I had a fun pair of rainboots to wear and splash around with the kids. Or by myself!

And from our April guest designers:

Jessica has this gorgeously romantic and bold card to share with us today!

Deborah has the only layout of the bunch today. I love her colorful raindrops and the variety of flowers on this!

Get creating! You have until April 13th to play along with this challenge.

Oh, one more thing....
The winner of Challenge #28 using the photo inspiration is lucky #3
Please send us an email papergirlschallengeblog@gmail.com with your info and we will get that prize mailed out to you!

April Guest Designers

For the month of April we will once again have two guest designers joining us!
Here is a little about them in their own words:

Jessica Arrant

My name is Jessica Arrant, and I'm a crafter. ;) Now that we have that out of the way I guess I should say that I am actually a scrapbooking fiend and typically my subjects are my 4-year-old and 2-year old sons, sometimes my hubby photo bombs a pic or two so he's begrudginly included. J/K, I gladly include him when I manage to take his picture. Most of those projects get linked up on my blog so I can enter them into various online challenges. As for other hobbies, well, I make cards and sometimes do some altered art. Oh? Non-paper crafts? That's a little harder. The hubs, and I have an on-again-off-again relationship with road running. We watch a lot of movies and love eating out. And when I can sneak a second I enjoy long soaks in bubble bath with a good book.

Deborah Johnson

My name is Deborah Johnson and I'm a scrapbooker who happens to make cards, altered art, sew and cook.  (Notice I left out the important stuff like cleaning and laundry??)  In my spare time, I'm a full-time middle school English Language Arts teacher and have been doing so for the past twenty years.  My adventures into scrapbooking started when my kids were born, they are 14 and 12 now!  I love taking photos and have managed to take thousands while scrapping only hundreds.  I am over-the-moon thrilled to be a guest designer for the Paper Girls Challenge Blog.  Being a part of an online scrapping community has really pushed my developing skills and provided me with a sounding board when I'm not happy with a layout or card.  Some of my best friends are the gals that I have met through scrapping.  My blog can be found here: http://scrappinthelittlethings.blogspot.com/

Please help us in welcoming these two very talented ladies! We will be back next week with a new challenge and their first projects.

Would YOU like to be considered as a future guest designer for The Paper Girls? If so, then just add your name and link to your blog in the linky on our sidebar. That's it! Next time we need a guest designer or two we'll hunt you out there!
