Challenge #102 - Fancy Folds

Hey there! Erica here from Stamping Starlette.

Let's change up our usual two dimensional thing and add some fancy folding to our projects. Here's what I'm thinking.. Go 3D, make that card a box, or add a bit of folded paper to your project to make it extra special, use iris folding or just do an unusual fold to your card base. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Once again, please welcome our guest designer for the month of April:

Hi, my name is Manuela and I am from Austria. I've been infected with the stamping-virus a few years now and it's not getting better ;) It's an awesome hobby to get creative plus you get in touch with the most sweet-natured crafters all around the world. I love to make clean and simple projects but sometimes it has to be "full". I love my papers and stamps, it's something that lift me up :)You can find me here:

Here is Manuela's project for this challenge - an adorable gift box in the shape of a mailbox:

Brittany
I chose to create a Double Z-Fold card, I love all the angles and in this fancy gate-fold version.

I made a pinwheel card that closes up with a belly band

The winner of Challenge #101,  is Crafting Vicky!

Congratulations! Please send an e-mail within two weeks to papergirlschallengeblog@gmail.com to claim your prize.

Challenge #101 - Mixed Media

Hi Paper Crafters! It's time for challenge #101. This time we're working with mixed media. Basically, we're asking you to mix more than one different art medium on your projects. Try using any combo of inks (ink pads, spray ink, india ink), paint (watercolor, acrylic, oil), pastel (chalk or oil), pencil, wax, texture pastes, or anything else you can come up with.

Before we get to our design team projects, please welcome our guest designer for the month of April:

Info about my card: I wanted to create a sponged background with inks and acrylic paint. I added glimmer mist and cut out some felt/newspaper-flowers, butterflies were a must-have on this card. And what is a card without some glitter and sparkle? ;)

And now here are our projects:

I used spray ink, india ink, embossing paste, perfect pearls, stamps and ink, gelato, charcoal pencil, and collaged paper on my background and distress ink on the front panel.

Kerys used chalk, pen ink, stamping ink, dimensional paint, glitter paint and lots of stamps.

I didn't want pix, just this statement, so a mixed media journal type layout was the way I chose to tell my story. Layers achieved with paints, paste, metals, chipboard,  paper, wood etc.

I used dye inks to create a watercolor background, acrylic paint and a stencil for the heart, embossing powder for the sentiment, and glimmer mists to complete the card.

I used gesso, Echo Park's Butterflies #1 designer stencil, and Tim Holtz' new Distress Crayons to complete the background on this card.

I made my background with gelatos, distress ink and glitter glue.

Erica used Canvas, Gesso, Dylusions Ink spray, Mixed media paper, Ken Oliver's Color Burst and Gel Medium

The winner of Challenge #100, sponsored by Scrapbook Steals, is Sherri!

Challenge #100!!

It is time for challenge number 100!

Before we get to the challenge, here is a little history of how we got started. Many years ago many of us "met" on the ScrapbookSteals facebook page. Sharing our family and personal stories through their scrapbooking blog naturally led to online friendships and then a facebook group where we could "talk" all things crafty, not just the fabulous steal of the day. One day talk of starting our own challenge site began. A few months later The Paper Girls Challenge blog was born! So now here we are 4 years and 100 challenges later! Many of the original 9 Paper Girls are no longer active with us, but we have had many more join us throughout the years.

To celebrate today's milestone, our theme is
PAPER GIRLS
The theme "Paper Girls" is open to interpretation. You can go with Girls, Paper, Paper Dolls, Friendship, Scrapbooking, even the number 100 or a big celebration! We invited all Paper Girls, past and present, to participate in this challenge.

Here is the current design team's projects:

Amber scrapped a photo from a ScrapbookSteals retreat where she got to meet several Paper Girls.

The best girlfriends you have are the ones you have to stand up with you on your day!

Challenge #99 - Rainbows

Happy Monday, everyone!  Michele here, with the next Paper Girls challenge for you. Does anyone else feel like spring is in the air? To help celebrate the coming of spring, my challenge theme is

RAINBOWS!!

I can't wait to see all of the colorful projects you all create!

Here's my card. First I inked up a background stamp with a rainbow of Distress Inks and stamped onto watercolor paper. Then brushed over the stamped image with water to spread and blend the ink.  I just cut off a little strip of it to add to my black background. The sentiment is heat embossed in white.

I love what the other Paper Girls have created this time around, please take a look!

Kerys

Brittany

Plain and simple journal page with a quote perfect for this chall:
"Be the Rainbow in someone else's cloud"

Amber scrapbooked a photo she took of a rainbow.

The winner of Challenge #98 is:

Hi, I'm Tara and I have always enjoyed creating crafty projects and within the last couple of years have decided to seriously pursue my love of all things paper, stamps, home decor, glitter, and more! I started up my blog a little over a year ago and have been slowly learning more skills and adding to my collection of crafty tools, tricks, and must-haves!  The blog is a place for me to share what I've learned and hopefully inspire others to pursue their passion, whatever that may be. Six months ago I decided to try my hand at creating crafty videos and started a YouTube channel to share my projects.  The crafting community is full of wonderful minds, open hearts, and amazing talent - I'm so excited to be a part of it!

PGCB #97 - Valentine/Love

Hello, Brittany here to kick of our first challenge for February with the Paper Girls! Since February is the month of love - we challenge you to create something for your Valentine or about love.

Challenge #97 - Valentine/Love

We have exciting news - this challenge is sponsored by Alisha from Scrap N' Dipity! Here is a bit more about this fabulous artist:

"Hi! My name is Alisha, I'm 31 years old and live in Ontario Canada. I've been creating graphics since I was 13 years old, which was a long time ago now! I like to create anything cute and kawaii style. I'm a huge crafter, I love to create all kinds of things! If it's a DIY project I will definitely try it. I started creating pixel graphics and have recently decided to jump into Scrapbooking products with my site Scrap N' Dipity. When I'm not creating I like to spend my time with my husband and our furbabies."

Alisha will be giving away two (2) $10 gift certificates to shop from her amazing digital shop - we'll randomly select one winner from participants from the Valentine challenge and Alisha will select one winner of her choice! We'll post the winners with our next challenge on Monday, 2/15/16.

Lucky us, we got to play with one of her darling digital images for this challenge - Scribble Sally - Be My Valentine.

For this project I printed the adorable image on kraft cardstock and colored her in with my Prismacolors.  This is one of my favorite coloring techniques and it really allows the image to be the star of the show!  For some added whimsy I outlined her with a white gel pen and used some cute puffy stickers and patterned papers to create a lovey dovey Valentine's theme.

Beautiful card, Tara!  Here is how the rest of the design team used this sweet image:

I wanted to use Scribble Sally to make Valentines for my girls - she was PERFECT!

My daughter has already declared this cute little girl and card as hers!  Scribble Sally is just the cutest little girl and perfect for Valentine's Day.
