CHALLENGE #194 - I heart Cutfiles

Cathryn here to share this fun challenge with you!

Well, this is certainly exciting for me. I am really happy to be back with The Paper Girls. Life gets so hectic and full of so many things to deal with that we sometimes stop doing what brings us joy.  And that was Scrapbooking for me. This year I have decided that I really need to make sure that I carve out time to feed my creative soul. I admit it has been a process.  And sometimes I wonder if I will ever get that creative spirit back. But what better place than here, surrounded by some of the most amazing talented inspiring girls. I feel so blessed to have met most of these girls through scrapbooking.
So for this challenge, I wanted to share and show the many ways that you can use cut files. My scrapbooking style has changed a lot since I started using my Silhouette more often. The variety of cut files to choose from is never-ending :)  And if your creative mojo is lacking, a cut file can mean all the difference.

For this first layout, I backed the flowers in the heart with different patterned papers. Using a large cut file like this one makes creating a layout easier because it takes up so much space.
After backing the cut file I added some foam to the back to pop it up and give it some extra dimension.

This second layout I used a cut file that I also backed with patterned paper.  These adorable little Gnomes are so stinkin' cute!!!  Lots of work but so worth it :)  It got a bit busier than I wanted but I still love it!!!

Lastly I will share a couple layouts that I previously had created but they fit in perfectly with the theme and will hopefully give you more inspirations!

Thanks everyone for stopping in. I can't wait to see all of your gorgeous creations!!!
Cathryn
I don't have a machine to make my own, but I found these old pre-cut sheets in my stash, perfect for my valentine's card.

I went low-tech and chose some of the dies that featured hearts to create this fun card. There are so many layers! The foil just adds a little bit of pop to this as well.

Challenge #193 - Birthdays

Hello crafty friends, and happy February!

This is Brittany, and I'm looking foward to kicking off  the begining of this month with something to celebrate: Birthdays!

If you're anything like me, I tend to make more birthday cards through the year than any other card. And with a large family, we tend to also have a lot of birthday celebrations I get to scrapbook as well! So, I'm looking forward to seeing your layouts, birthday cards, party decor, etc using this theme - I know I'm personally looking forward to the inspiration!

We are VERY fortunate have an adorable project from from our guest designer, Vicki, to share with you today as well! Here is a bit about Vicki and her very sweet card:

"Hello friends!  My name is Vicki and I’ve been an avid paper crafter for several years!  I’ve been a crafter of some sorts for as long as I can remember as it runs in my family!  Both my mom and grandma have shared their love of crafting with me and when I found paper crafting I was hooked!  I have a varied style and enjoy many different forms of paper crafting besides cardmaking; such as:  art journaling, mixed media and scrapbooking.  Please be sure to stop by my blog at Stamped Smiles where I’d like to share a smile with you! ðŸ˜Š

I’m always needing birthday cards, so this was perfect timing for a few up-coming birthdays!  I was very happy to pull out some new but never used stash items to create with as well!  I’ve used a Cover-Up die to make the base for this fun party animal scene and just added some papers to match the coloring of the images.  It reminds me of a few birthday parties I would attend as a child.  Hope it helps bring you a smile today!  Thank you for having me along for this challenge!"

Thank you SO much, Vicki, and thank you for particpating with us Paper Girls! Please be sure to visit Vicki's blog and tell her hello!

Here is a little more inspiration from our design team:
