Challenge #22 - Neon Colors!

Hello everyone!  Charissa here!  Hope that you are having a wonderful Holiday Season!  We just had our first snow the other day, and though it didn't stick that always puts me in the holiday mood!

This week I wanted to bring merry and bright to our crafting and one of the trendiest ways to bring bright and vibrant pop to crafting projects is the use of neon colors!  There are neon inks, neon ribbons, neon washi and even neon pens out there.  Now, you may not think you have anything neon you could use, but what about those highlighters most of us have around!  Those are the perfect neon colors!

Projects certainly don't need to be winter or holiday themed to enter, but I want to extend the added challenge to use neon colors for a Winter or Holiday themed project, if you so desire!

Because of the upcoming holidays, we are making this challenge last longer than normal. You will have until January 5th, 2013 to link up your project to this post.  We will bring our next challenge to you on January 7th, 2013!

Here are the projects our wonderful designers have created to get your neon creative juices flowing!

I (Charissa) used the pink, blue, and purple Neon Inks from Hero Arts along with some Kiwi Lane Designs Templates to create this colorful winter themed card.

Kristy created this adorable birthday card using strips of neon and brightly colored washi to really make it pop.  I love how she  made a neon rainbow!

Heather created this darling card with stamps and neon embossing powder.  I adore how detailed and ornate the ornaments are and that they are hung on twine!

Charity created this gorgeous piece with all sorts of neon gorgeousness.  The trees are made using bright, neon ribbons and I love how each of them has a little bit of bling!  So awesome!

Erica created this beautiful holiday card. I love the strong pops of white in the frame, tree and snowflakes.  They really make the bright colors stand out.

Amber created this stunning card with lots of neon.  I just adore those neon pink and orange flowers!  And the neon really pops against the black background.

Remember you have until 11.59 MST on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 to link up for this challenge!  We cannot wait to see all of your neon projects!!

And now....time for the winner from Challenge #21

#1 Olivia

Challenge #21 - Multi Photo Layouts!

Hello Everyone! Kyla here from The Paper Girls Challenge Blog!
To start with I just wanted to say how simply fantastic the last challenge was!! To say that we were all so excited and beyond amazed at the level of participation would be an understatement! 127 entries of beautiful Christmas and Winter themed projects! Wow! A big Thank You to all of you that submitted an entry, it’s truly inspiring to see so many fellow crafters out there joining us! Keep up the outstanding work!!

With that, here we go with our next challenge.

I know I can’t speak for everyone, but I do find that most of my layouts in my scrapbooks only have 1 photo, sometimes two. I want to focus on that one memory or one image and create a page that embellishes it. Every now and again though I need to add more photos! Especially when it comes to big events or holidays that I want to scrap. There’s so many great photos that need to find a space in our books at home, but if I were to leave only one photo per page….My goodness, these albums would be a hundred pages long!

So, for this Monday, I am challenging everyone to create a layout with a multitude of photos! Use those birthday pics that you want to collage or several shots from a recent sports event, group them all together to make a really great multi-photo layout! For this challenge, let’s say for a single page layout 3-4 photos (or more) and on a double page layout 4-8 (or more!)

In my case, photos from a trip that I took back in the Spring. My brother and I travelled for over 24 hours, had layovers in 4 different airports in 4 different cities on 2 different continents! I definitely wanted to chronicle our journey, and although there are some really great photos from our travels, they may not be the “Oh wow!” photos that usually earn “Single Photo Layout” status.

So without further adieu, here’s all our Team’s Multi Photo Layouts!

Mine – “24 Hours 4 Cities” Our travels and photos of airports and views from our planes!

“Scrappy Goodies”
Sheryl made this fantastic layout using photos of all the treats that arrived from the ScrapbookSteals retreat!

 “This Old Truck”
Charity made a beautiful rustic two page layout about childhood memories down on the farm on a windy day.

“St Patrick’s Day or Easter?”
Heather made a darling St Patty’s/Easter layout with photos of her gorgeous girl!

“Meeting the Girls”
This colourful layout Kristina made with photos from the ScrapbookSteals retreat where some of the Paper Girls Team was able to get together (finally meeting face to face for the first time!)

 “Skiball”
Charissa created this super fun layout using photos of her and her daughter playing Skiball!

"Mom, it's a Robot"
Erica made a fun layout about her son's obsession with robots.

So round up all those photos you've been meaning to scrap and challenge yourself to make a layout using them all together! We can't wait to see what everyone creates!

And now....time for the winners from Challenge #20
Because we had such an overwhelming response we are randomly selecting TWO winners!

And

#90 Cheryl

Congratulations to you both!!

Challenge #18 {a picture inspiration}

Happy Autumn!  Judy here, ready to share a bit of inspiration.  Today's challenge came about through my addiction love of Pinterest.  I often explore Pinterest on my phone as I am drifting off to sleep.  Sometimes I am looking for scrapbooking inspiration, recipes to feed my family, a good joke to laugh a hard day away, or visual inspiration for crafting or home decor.  The challenge today is a photo/picture inspiration.  I found this pin and fell in love:

This picture is just amazing, full of potential.  The pink and orange.  The inky appearance.  The mixture of patterns and textures.  I swear I see a dragonfly in there too!  The project I created for this week was a mini album for my daughter, Ella.  She has been begging me to make her a mini album for months!  Keeping with the color scheme and mixture of patterns, here is my project:

Here is a photo of the inside, highlighting the different textures.  I had so much fun creating this little book for my little girl.  She was excited mommy was making a complete book for her!

Without further ado, the rest of The Paper Girls projects:

Charity kept with the color scheme and mixture of patterns to create this stunning layout documenting a beautiful summer outing.  I love how she has a double banner across the top.

Charissa, documented a precious family moment, any mother can relate to her sentiments in her journaling.  She is very blessed.  I like how she filled the negative space (the title, circles, and heart) with paper she inked and stamped on.  She really captures the inspirational photo.

Kyla, created this stunning birthday card.  I especially like the splattering of orange ink, it looks like confetti.  The pops of grey are just lovely.

Erica created this fun layout about a pair of shoes.  I love how bright and whimsical her layout is.  The circles seem to pop off the page and give the layout a sense of movement.

Kristy's layout uses her adorable daughter and her (beautiful) self as subjects.  I like how she found inspiration, the paper using to mat her photo is full of details and is all inky/painty!  The wave of bling and pink is just perfect!

I hope you are able to find inspiration from the picture and our projects, I cannot wait to see what you create!  If you want to join in and submit an entry to our challenge use our linky tool down below to link up your photo! The deadline for this Challenge is Saturday, October 27th. Please let us know in the comments if you have any questions or problems.

Challenge #17: Acetate or Transparencies

Happy Monday and welcome to October!  Cannot believe October is already starting.  Charissa here with a new challenge for you!  I want to challenge you to use acetate or transparencies on a layout, card, or other project.  So many times we get these adorable transparencies in collection kits and find them a challenge to use, so hopefully we can give you some ideas to put them to use.  But it doesn’t end with those patterned transparencies; there are many other transparent products out there.  I have used the plastic acetate backing that comes with cling and clear stamps before on a project!  The possibilities are endless, so try out those clear products and see what you can come up with!

A scrappy hero of mine, Shimelle, did a tutorial video showing how you could use a transparency to make a double sided page.  I loved the idea and was so inspired!! I used a patterned transparency from Fancy Pants to create this double sided page with photos of my little princesses.  I just made sure that all elements on the pages had a copy on the other side so you can't see anything sticking behind.

To back the number 3, I used one of the acetate sheets that came with a background cling stamp.  I stitched it on and then adhered some patterned paper behind it.

I love how Charity attached her 3M transparency (yes, the type you can get at the office supply store) with black brads that match her enamel accents in black and how she put rub-ons actually on the transparency.  Genius!

Amber

Amber used the packaging from a round punch to make this adorable snowman shaker card!  What a great way to use up material that would normally just be tossed/recycled - make a snow globe of sorts.  Super cute!!

Erica made this absolutely darling luminary with a Halloween theme.  How adorable are those ghosts and the kitty in the pumpkin? And the acetate works perfectly to let you see the background inside.  This would be stunning with a tea light in it(electric of course!).

Kristy used this stunning SU window sheet (a printed acetate) to create this gorgeous card.  The window sheet has the tree printed on it (many transparencies at office supply stores can be run through printers to add an image) and allows the stripe to show through.

Judy made this gorgeous and peaceful layout using a printed transparency as part of her layering.  It shows how a transparency can be used in place of patterned paper in many cases to add depth and interest to your project!

Hope we have inspired you to try out those clear transparencies and other acetate items.  I can't wait to see what you make this week!!  Our random winner will be getting this set of goodies from Studio Calico.

If you want to join in and submit an entry to our challenge use our linky tool down below to link up your photo! The deadline for this Challenge is Saturday, October 13th. Please let us know in the comments if you have any questions or problems.
