Challenge #75 - Marsala

Pantone declared 2015's color of the year to be Marsala. Described as "a naturally robust and earthy wine red" it is muted enough to almost act as a neutral yet bold enough to be a great accent color.

Here are some inspirational photos:

It's a totally different style than the baby's breath but it could also be done with white flowers. We could also just use the amaryllis flowers in random little vases to bring in the burgundy colour on various tables, mis-matched around the room.

Need some help working this rich and sophisticated, yet muted and earthy, color into your crafts? Pantone has some color pairings that might help you here. Or just go to Pinterest and find some great combos.

Needless to say, our current challenge is for you to make a project using the color Marsala. And if you just can't find the right colors then we're also letting you use wine as a theme as well! So pick one or both and get crafty. Here's what our design team has created this round:

Amber
I used Aged Mahogany distress ink to stamp my image. All the other wine-colored items are from Stampin'  Up - solid cardstock is Rich Razzleberry (I think), polka dot and ribbon are both retired.

Karrie
My marsala was this background paper I found in a rather old GCD Studios pad called Antiquities.  I'd forgotten how great ALL the papers were in this pad, so I used several more!
Found a few buttons and other things of similar shades to throw in.

I found some plain colored cardstock in my VAST collection, and paired this with papers from My Mind's Eye Collectable 'Unforgettable' collection. The twine is also from My Mind's Eye.
The red is a lot darker in 'real life' - the lighting is terrible for taking photos!!

I decided to go with the whole "wine" theme!  This is a fun stamp set called Let's Get SIP FACED from Unity Stamp Company.

I used marsala as an accent color on my layout. The papers and 3x4 cards used here are from Lily Bee's 'Urban Autumn' collection.

I found this Vineyard Berry (retired) colored cardstock from Close to My Heart sitting around in my stash that was close to the marsala color. But the color reminded me so much of wine, I couldn't resist using the Wine & Friends stamp from Unity Stamp Company with the paper.

The Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany distress stain is really close to the Marsala tone. I swiped some stains on some cardstock and punched some hearts out once it was dry.
