Challenge #150 - Rainbows

Hi everyone Cathryn here to share a super fun challenge......RAINBOWS!!!!
Where I live April is usually a month filled with lots of April Showers!! So I figured this would be a perfect time for some Rainbow Inspiration.  Sadly, however we are still fighting through some cold weather and snow!!!   Yes.....I said snow. Checking facts I learned that this is the longest winter we have had since 1940!!  So, doing some creating with Rainbows has been fun and got me very much looking forward to warmer weather.

I am very much looking forward to seeing all the colours of the Rainbow in your projects.

First let me introduce our talented Guest Designer Marty McGee

Rainbows signify hope, life, and promises. I wanted to bring paper to life using rainbow colors to express these three things. I used Fun Stampers Journey (FSJ) splashes to create a wonderful rainbow array of flowers with an endearing sentiment. Each flower is accented with FSJ Rainbow Drops and our Mystic Fern die. For complete details on how I made this card visit www.martyzstamps.com and search for "A Better Place - Rainbow Effect - Paper Girls Guest Designer" post.

Hi, I'm Marty McGee. I was born and bred in the South; and, yes, I do have a southern accent.
I have been a papercrafter for the past 20 years. It began with scrapbooking and transitioned into card making.
I am a coach with Fun Stampers Journey and absolutely love all of their products. I really love working with new techniques using the Gel Press along with anything that requires a die (I'm a die addict), colored pencils, watercolor pencils, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers; I guess I had better stop or you'll be reading for hours. If you live in the Atlanta area, look me up and come to one of my classes where creating is fun!

I had so much fun using all the colours of the Rainbow in my first project. I used a Paige Evans Silhouette Cut File, and backed all of the little hearts with paint chip samples.  It is amazing all the creating that you can do with simple paint chip samples.

Because I had so much fun with the layout, I decided to make a very simple card.
I used some Jane Davenport Water Colours and the packaging technique, and then just added a simple sentiment.

For my last project I really wanted to try and create a poured paint canvas in Rainbow colours.
Although I had no idea what I was doing, I think it turned out OK.
I then added a sweet quote and a few cut clouds.

Please enjoy some more amazing inspiration from our talented team members!!!

Brittany
Although my project isn't the typical bright full spectrum rainbow we are used to seeing, I couldn't resist creating the rainbow on this card in my friend's favorite shades of purple for her birthday.

I found perfect papers in my stash from Sassafrass Lass and came up with this page.
My son's sublime smile colours my world!

Kristy
I used rainbow washi to create the background under the bunny.  If you look carefully, you can see where I layered two different width washies to add a little depth to the colors.

Heather
I used the Avery Elle Be A Unicorn stamp and die set, with a few clouds and lovely watercolored rainbows created with clear embossing powder.

Michele
The rainbow painted on my daughter's face paired well with this striped rainbow paper!

Now for our design team inspiration...

Brittany
I ended up making two cards for this challenge - I am always in need of masculine cards, so I took advantage of this challenge to stock up!

Here I used the new Waterfront stamp from Stampin' Up because many of the men in my life are nature lovers, so this was a perfect set to create an outdoory scene.

I kept the next card a little more simple, you can never go wrong with balloons in more masculine colors. I used a three different stamp sets for this one - including the stripes to create the background piece since I didn't have coordinating paper :)

Karrie
A masculine card and I'm extra proud of how I took a potty man sticker and
adjusted him to be sitting on the scooter with a helmet on!

Cathryn
For my Dad's 75th Birthday I decorated these containers with scrapbook paper, cardstock, and Thickers.

Erica
I went with a baseball themed stamp set because my husband absolutely loves baseball.

I started with a simple kraft cardstock background and crackled, colored cardstock. I have had the Tim Holtz Soda Bottle Blueprint Rubber Stamp (got on clearance at Hobby Lobby) for about a year now, and this was the perfect time to start using it. I used a Memento Dew Drop in Nautical Blue for the ink, then colored the star with a silver colored pencil. The last few details were a Stampin Up stamp from a long time ago with some silver embossing powder, a few enamel shapes and a touch of Wink of Stella glitter pen in a few areas.
