Challenge #134 - Monochromatic

Hello crafters! Brittany here, and I have to admit I'm looking forward to challenging you all to create a Monochromatic challenge this week. I struggle sticking to one color scheme, but I have seen so many beautiful projects lately that I couldn't resist bringing this challenge to everyone...it has certainly been quite the push for me, anyway. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the work monochromatic as: "having or consisting of one color or hue", so let's see what types of projects you can create!

I needed to make a sympathy card, and for some reason using one color seemed to be perfect - simple and calming. So, with a little Copic highlighting, I was able to keep to a simple one color project.

We also have two guest designers who made incredible projects:

First is Teresa

Hi, my name is Teresa, I am a single parent to Tyler who is 20 and away at University.  I live in Sittingbourne, Kent in the United Kingdom and I am currently working as a Bakery Section Leader in my local Supermarket, but in my spare time I love to make cards.

I have been crafting on and off for many years, starting with knitting and cross stitch.  After a back operation in 2013, I found myselft with lots of spare time and decided to set up a blog to start showing my cards and I haven't looked back since.

Here is her beautiful monochromatic project:
My passion is colouring with my Copic and ProMarkers.  I have gone pink and girly for my card using a digital stamp and digital patterned paper.  I have also added a little sparkle using glitter and sequins.

Be sure to visit her at her blog and tell her hello: http://redobsessioncards.blogspot.co.uk/

Secondly, Heather Conklin is back to share another beautiful project:

My name is Heather Conklin. I am a native to Washington State, and have lived my entire life in the Pacific Northwest. I am married to my college sweetheart, have two wonderful daughters and an adorable not-so-miniature Schnauzer. My day job is teaching Visual Arts at an urban high school. I have been crafting and creating my entire life, but only have been papercrafting since 2004. I love creating things with mixed patterns, using my Silhouette Cameo, and trying new mediums. One of my favorite things to do is to take a kit and use every single piece on as many projects as I can. When I'm bored, I have also browsed my own personal stash and built kits of random things that I already own.

I have a blog, but I haven't been blogging too much recently, but my favorite (and current go to) social media is Instagram.

And now a little extra inspiration from our fantastic design team:

Absolutely love this pic I took at the family reunion this year, but thought it looked better in greyscale for scrapping,  so going with a monochromatic scheme of fleshtone shades worked perfectly imho!

Challenge #133 - Roses

Summer brings a lot of wonderful things to mind: sunshine, beaches, pools, playgrounds. Michele here, and for me, summertime means my rose bushes are blooming like crazy! Well, most years they are. My roses have had a hard time this year, unfortunately. First, deer were eating the blooms and I had to cut the bushes way back. Then, aphids and thrips attacked, and the blooms I got at the beginning of the season were not very pretty at all. Well, after addressing those problems, I'm finally getting some gorgeous flowers, and so I am honoring roses everywhere with this week's challenge:

Challenge #133 - Roses

I waited so long and worked so hard for this bloom:

Anyways, I did some multi-step stamping with Altenew's "Vintage Roses" to create my card:

We are so lucky this week to have not one, but TWO guest designers!

First, Heather Conklin returns:

Second, Maja Rijkers returns as well:

Hello my name is Maja Rijkers. I live in the Netherlands, in a town called Breda, together with my partner Jack, two dogs and two cats. I have two grownup children who already live on their own. I'm creative all my life, but I started scrapbooking in 2004 when I bought a scrapbook magazine at the local store. I fell in love with it and haven't stop since! I also love to art journal and occasionally I make a card. I'm so happy to be a guest designer here on the blog. Thanks for having me!

Maja is sharing her amazing art journaling page with us:
